Short answer

AdCreative.ai is the best AI ad creative tool for performance marketers who need many ad variants at once. It builds ad sets in each network's sizes and scores every asset before you spend. Its Starter plan is $39 a month for 10 credits, so heavy testing pushes you up a tier. The Brief, formerly Creatopy, is the better pick when the work is display banner sets in many sizes. DesignerBox is the cheapest full studio at $15 a month.

We ranked on two things a reader can check without trusting us. The first is the price printed on the vendor's own pricing page. The second is limits the vendor states itself, such as a plan gate, a quota, an export cap or a watermark rule.

Four of the nine tools do not print a usable price. Photoroom prints only a yearly rate. Arcads prints no price at all. Canva blocked our fetch. Pippit shows local currency that did not render. We publish no number for those rather than copy one from a listicle.

DesignerBox is our product. It is third here, not first, and the section on it lists what it does not do.

Prices are in US dollars for month-to-month billing. Annual plans cost less per month, and we do not use those numbers here. Where a seller does not publish a monthly price, the table says so instead of guessing. Where we could not confirm a feature, the table says "Not stated" rather than "No".

The nine tools, ranked

Ranked for teams making paid social and display ads at volume.

Rank 1:AdCreative.aiCategory winner

$39From, billed monthly

Strengths

  • It builds a full ad set from one brand kit, in the sizes each ad network asks for.
  • Creative Scoring AI gives each asset a predicted performance number before you spend.
  • It turns product photos into video ads inside the same account, so static and video sit together.
  • Ad platform integrations connect your own ad accounts to the workflow.

Limitations

  • The Starter plan is $39 a month for 10 credits, so a real testing month moves you to the $249 Professional plan.
  • The site lists API access only in the Enterprise tier, as a Digital Asset Management API.
  • Yearly billing is half price. Professional is $249 a month month-to-month and $125 a month billed yearly, so paying monthly doubles your cost.

Starter is $39/mo and Professional is $249/mo on the monthly toggle, which is the default. Professional drops to $185/mo billed quarterly and $125/mo billed yearly. Ultimate is $999/mo. A free trial is offered. API access is Enterprise only. Read on the vendor site on 12 August 2026.

DesignerBox vs AdCreative.aiAdCreative.ai pricing

Rank 2:The Brief (formerly Creatopy)

$29Per month if you pay yearly. No monthly price published.

Strengths

  • One design resizes into a full set, which is the core job in display advertising.
  • Brand kits hold colour, type and logo fixed across every size in the set.
  • The page lists delivery to 25 or more ad networks on the mid plan and above.
  • Team plans are sold per seat, so a creative pod shares one workspace.

Limitations

  • The pricing page opens on the yearly toggle. The entry card reads $29 a month, billed annually at $348, so the month-to-month price is higher and is not the number you see first.
  • API access shows only in the Enterprise tier. Pro, Ultra and Team show a dash for it.
  • Storage is capped per plan, at 250GB on the entry plan and 1TB on the plans above it.

The entry plan reads $29 per month, billed annually at $348. The mid plan reads $79 per month, billed annually at $948. The team plan reads $49 per seat per month, billed annually at $588 per seat. Yearly is the default toggle and saves 26 percent, so no month-to-month number is shown first. Trial is 7 days with no card. API is Enterprise only. Read on the vendor site on 12 August 2026.

The Brief (formerly Creatopy) pricing

Rank 3:DesignerBoxThis is us

$15From, billed monthly

Strengths

  • Photo, model, video and ad studios share one workspace and one brand profile.
  • Paid plans start at $15 a month, below most tools in this list.
  • Product ad, flat lay and spotlight tools turn one product photo into ad-ready frames.
  • An MCP server and an API let you drive generation from your own scripts.

Limitations

  • There is no mobile app. All work happens in the browser.
  • It is newer than Photoroom and less proven at pure cutout edge quality at high volume.
  • The free plan watermarks output, AI video starts on the $75 Premium plan, and API access is on the $200 Ultra plan only.

Basic $15/mo, Pro $35/mo, Premium $75/mo, Ultra $200/mo. The free plan adds a watermark. AI video is off on free, Basic and Pro, and starts on the $75 Premium plan. API access is on the $200 Ultra plan only, so a $15 plan does not include it. Read in config/limits.js on 12 August 2026.

DesignerBox pricing

Rank 4:Photoroom

Not publishedFrom, billed monthly

Strengths

  • Background removal and AI backgrounds run at batch scale, which suits large product catalogues.
  • The API is billed per image rather than per month, with separate rates for background removal and image editing.
  • Sandbox mode gives 1,000 free images a month for testing.
  • Each paid plan includes an API credit wallet worth the plan price, charged at API rates.

Limitations

  • Every plan card reads Per month, billed yearly, so the price shown is the yearly rate and not a month-to-month rate.
  • Exports are capped per plan, at 1,000 on the entry plan and 10,000 on the top plan.
  • Sandbox images are watermarked, so free test output cannot ship as an ad.

Photoroom prints each plan price as Per month, billed yearly, so no month-to-month number appears. The plan numbers did not render for us, so we publish none. The API is billed per image rather than per month, with separate rates for Remove Background and the Image Editing API. Sandbox mode gives 1,000 free watermarked images a month. Read on the vendor site on 12 August 2026.

DesignerBox vs PhotoroomPhotoroom pricing

Rank 5:Predis.ai

$19From, billed monthly

Strengths

  • Core is $19 a month with 1,300 credits, rated at about 86 images or 9 videos.
  • Video and image sit in the same plan, so video is not a separate upgrade.
  • Plans cover 10 to 60 connected social accounts.
  • Brand slots keep clients apart, with up to 4 brands on the $40 Rise plan.

Limitations

  • API access is priced separately from the plan on every tier, so the subscription is not the whole bill.
  • Credits are shared between images and videos. The vendor rates the 1,300-credit plan at about 9 videos, so video use spends the month fast.
  • The $19 plan covers one brand only. A second brand needs the $40 plan.

Core is $19/mo, Rise is $40/mo and Enterprise + is $212/mo on the monthly toggle, which is the default. Yearly prices are printed as $230, $474 and $2,540 per year. API access is offered on all plans and is priced separately. Read on the vendor site on 12 August 2026.

Predis.ai pricing

Rank 6:Canva

Not publishedFrom, billed monthly

Strengths

  • Bulk create builds many ad variants from one layout and a data file.
  • Brand kits and locked templates keep non-designers inside brand rules.
  • The Connect API is public, so assets can move into other systems.
  • A free plan makes it cheap to add people who only need to edit copy in a layout.

Limitations

  • The pricing page blocked our fetch, so we publish no price for Canva.
  • Private Connect API integrations are limited to teams on the Canva Enterprise plan.
  • Public Connect API integrations must pass a Canva review before other Canva users can install them.

Canva blocked our fetch of its pricing page, so we publish no price. Plan prices should be read on canva.com before you buy. The Connect API is public to all users, with review for public integrations and Enterprise for private ones. Checked on 12 August 2026.

Canva pricing

Rank 7:Arcads

Not publishedFrom, billed monthly

Strengths

  • A library of AI actors reads your script, so you get talking ad videos without a shoot.
  • The site lists an AI Video API and a Lip Sync API as product features.
  • Lip sync is a named feature, so the actor matches the script line you wrote.
  • New video models appear on the platform, with Seedance 2.5 named on the homepage.

Limitations

  • The site publishes no price. There is no pricing page at /pricing.
  • The homepage sells a limited-time offer instead of a plan, so your cost is only clear after you sign up.
  • The product covers actor video. Static image ads need a second tool.

Not published. Arcads shows no price on its site and has no pricing page at /pricing, so we publish no number. The homepage advertised a limited-time offer of 7 days of unlimited Seedance 2.5. Checked on 12 August 2026.

Arcads pricing

Rank 8:Pencil

$14From, billed monthly

Strengths

  • Core is $14 a month billed monthly, with 50 generations.
  • Growth is $55 a month billed monthly, with 250 generations.
  • Yearly billing drops Core to $11 and Growth to $44 per month.
  • A guided start gives 6 free ads before you pay anything.

Limitations

  • Generations are capped per month, at 50 on Core and 250 on Growth, so volume testing needs the Pro plan.
  • The pricing page does not mention an API on any self-serve plan.
  • Unlimited generations sit on the Pro plan, which is custom priced, so the top tier has no published number.

Core is $14 per month billed monthly, or $11 per month billed annually. Growth is $55 per month billed monthly, or $44 per month billed annually. Pro is custom priced. The monthly toggle is the default. Read on the vendor site on 12 August 2026.

Pencil pricing

Rank 9:Pippit

EUR 10From, billed monthly

Strengths

  • The free plan gives daily credits and needs no card.
  • The free plan includes a video agent, an image agent and AI talking photos.
  • Paid plans remove the watermark and run generation faster.
  • Cost per credit is printed on each paid plan, so plans can be compared on credit value.

Limitations

  • Free output carries a watermark. Watermark removal is a paid feature.
  • The pricing page does not mention an API.
  • Prices are shown in the currency of your region and did not return a readable number for us, so check the price on the page before you buy.

Not published in a form we could read. Pippit shows a free plan with daily credits, no card and a watermark, then paid plans in local currency. The paid numbers did not render reliably for us, so we publish none. No API is mentioned. Checked on 12 August 2026.

Pippit pricing

Start with the format you ship most. If most of your spend goes to display banners, pick a tool that resizes one master design into every network size. The Brief does this and lists 25 or more ad networks. If most of your spend goes to paid social video, pick a tool where video sits in a plan you can afford. Predis includes video from $19 a month. DesignerBox starts video on the $75 plan. Next, check the credit maths. Predis rates 1,300 credits at about 9 videos, so one week of video testing can spend a month of credits. Last, check the API line. AdCreative.ai and The Brief both put the API in Enterprise, and DesignerBox puts it on the $200 plan.

Published entry prices run from $14 to $39 a month. Pencil is $14 billed monthly. DesignerBox is $15. Predis is $19. AdCreative.ai is $39 for 10 credits. The Brief prints $29 a month billed annually at $348, so its month-to-month price is higher and is not the first number you see. The money goes to three places. Generation cost reaches you as credits, and credits are not one per ad. Seats cost extra once a pod shares the work, so The Brief at $49 per seat per month billed yearly is $2,940 a year for five people. API use is usually a separate bill. Photoroom bills its API per image rather than per month. DesignerBox includes API access on the $200 Ultra plan.

AdCreative.ai wins because it publishes a month-to-month price, scores each asset before you spend, and covers static and video ads in one account. The Brief is second for sized display sets across 25 or more ad networks. DesignerBox is third, and it loses in clear ways. There is no mobile app. It is newer than Photoroom and less proven at pure cutout edge quality at high volume. Its free plan watermarks output. AI video starts on the $75 Premium plan and API access is on the $200 Ultra plan only, so a $15 subscription buys neither. Buy DesignerBox for breadth on a small budget, not for API work or for catalogue-scale cutouts.

How we build these guides

A guide written by one of the sellers in it is only worth reading if it shows its working. Here is ours.

We test on real products

We run the same products through every tool, including the hard ones: shiny metal, clear glass, and items with small print on the label. A tool that makes a pretty scene but bends your logo has failed the test.

We read prices at the source

We read each price on the seller's own pricing page, with billing set to monthly. Most pricing pages open on yearly billing, which shows a lower number per month. We do not use that number, and we show the date we checked.

We say when we do not know

If we cannot confirm something, the guide says "Not stated". We do not turn a missing answer into a missing feature. A tool is only marked as lacking something when the seller's own site says so.

We rank ourselves in the middle

DesignerBox appears in every guide and is first in none of them. Each guide names another tool as its winner. This rule is checked by our build, so it cannot be quietly changed.

Questions buyers ask

What is the best AI ad creative tool?
AdCreative.ai is the strongest pick for performance marketers making many ad variants. It builds ad sets in each network's sizes, scores each asset before you spend, and publishes a month-to-month Starter price of $39 for 10 credits. The Brief, formerly Creatopy, is better when your work is display banner sets in many sizes. DesignerBox is the cheapest full studio at $15 a month.
How much do AI ad creative tools cost per month?
Published entry plans run from $14 to $39 a month. Pencil is $14 billed monthly for 50 generations. DesignerBox is $15. Predis is $19 for 1,300 credits. AdCreative.ai is $39 for 10 credits, and its Professional plan is $249 a month or $125 a month billed yearly. The Brief prints $29 a month billed annually at $348. Photoroom, Canva, Arcads and Pippit publish no figure we could read.
Is DesignerBox ranked first because you own it?
No. DesignerBox is third here and the winner is a competitor. We hold our own product to the same test as the rest. Its real limits sit in the table: no mobile app, a watermark on the free plan, AI video only from the $75 plan, and API access only on the $200 plan. It is also newer than Photoroom and less proven at cutout edge quality at high volume.
Which AI ad creative tools have an API?
Canva publishes the Connect API to all users, though public integrations need a Canva review and private ones need the Enterprise plan. Predis offers an API on every plan, priced separately from the subscription. Photoroom bills its API per image rather than per month. Arcads lists an API for AI actor clips and one for lip sync. AdCreative.ai and The Brief put API access in Enterprise. DesignerBox includes it on the $200 Ultra plan only.
Which of these tools make video ads, not only images?
Predis includes image and video in the same plan from $19 a month, and rates 1,300 credits at about 9 videos. Arcads makes AI actor videos from a script. Pippit runs a video agent on its free plan, with a watermark on the output. AdCreative.ai turns product photos into video ads. DesignerBox has AI video from the $75 Premium plan and above.
Is there a free AI ad creative tool?
Pippit has a free plan with daily credits and no card, and it watermarks the output. Photoroom gives 1,000 free sandbox images a month, also watermarked. DesignerBox has a free plan that watermarks output too. The Brief and Pencil offer trials instead. The Brief gives 7 days with no card. Pencil gives 6 free ads through a guided start.
What happened to Creatopy?
Creatopy now trades as The Brief, at thebrief.ai, and its pricing page says formerly Creatopy. The product still does the same job. One master design becomes a sized set for 25 or more ad networks, with brand kits and per-seat team plans. The entry card reads $29 a month, billed annually at $348, and API access stays in the Enterprise tier.
How many ad variants should I plan for each month?
Most paid social accounts need a small number of strong concepts, then many sized versions of each one. Plan for 3 to 5 concepts a month and a full size set per concept. That shape decides your tool. A per-generation cap hurts if you test concepts, so Pencil's 50 generations on the $14 plan runs out fast. A per-seat price hurts if a pod shares the work, such as $49 per seat per month on The Brief.
