Size conversion charts
Free international size conversion charts for clothing, shoes and accessories. Find your size across US, EU, UK and other sizing systems, with the measurements behind every number.
How do you convert a size between countries?
Find your size in the system you know and read across the row. For womenswear, a UK size is the US size plus 4 and a European size is the US size plus 32. For menswear, a European jacket size is close to the chest in centimetres halved. For children, a European size is the height in centimetres. For shoes, measure the foot and convert from that.
Sizing systems disagree because they measure different things. Continental European sizes come from the body in centimetres, so they can be calculated. British and American sizes are historical numbering that is not tied to any measurement, so they can only be looked up. Japanese and Chinese shoe sizes are defined as the foot length itself, which makes them the easiest to order from once you have measured.
That is why every chart on this page carries the measurement columns as well as the size columns. A number converts reliably between two national systems, and it still tells you nothing about whether a particular brand cuts slim. Your own measurements in centimetres are the only figure that stays true across a border and across a label.

Measure first, convert second
A conversion is only as good as the size you start from. Four measurements cover every chart on this page.
Chest or bust
- Run the tape around the fullest part, level with your armpits.
- Keep it flat across your back and parallel to the floor.
- Breathe out normally before you read the number.
- This sets your size for tops, shirts, jackets and coats.
Waist
- Bend to one side and find the natural crease.
- Wrap the tape around that point, parallel to the floor.
- Leave one finger under the tape so it is snug, not tight.
- This sets your size for trousers, skirts and jeans.
Hips
- Stand with your feet together.
- Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
- Check in a mirror that the tape is level all the way round.
- This decides the size on any fitted dress or skirt.
Foot length
- Stand on paper against a wall with your heel touching it.
- Keep your weight on the foot, which adds up to half a size.
- Mark the tip of the longest toe and measure from the wall.
- Measure both feet in the afternoon and use the larger.
Put your products on AI models
A size chart fixes the number. It does not answer "how will this look on me", which is what actually decides the order and the return. DesignerBox puts your garment on a range of AI models and body types from a single flat-lay, so one product shoot covers every market you sell into.
- One flat-lay becomes a full on-model set, in every size you stock
- Show the same garment on several body types without a second shoot
- Consistent models across a whole catalogue, not a new face per product
- Ready for Shopify, Amazon, Etsy and your own storefront
