Mavely App: How It Works and How Creators Get Paid

The Mavely app is now Later Creator. How links, commissions and payouts work, why pay arrives 30 days after each cycle, and the $10 minimum for creators.

Mavely App: How It Works and How Creators Get Paid

The Mavely app is a free affiliate app for creators, and since September 2026 it is called Later Creator. You make a trackable link to a product, share it, and earn a commission when a follower buys. Mavely pays on the 1st and 15th of each month, 30 days after a 15-day cycle ends, once you reach a $10 minimum by ACH or PayPal.

Creators who search for the app ask three things. How does the money reach you? Is the company real? What do you have to post to earn anything?

This guide is for creators who run their links as a one-person business. It covers the links, the commissions, the payout calendar, the rules that end an account, the disclosure and the content volume. Every Mavely fact below was read on Mavely’s or Later’s own pages in October 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • The name changed, the mechanics did not. Later bought Mavely in January 2025 and renamed the app Later Creator in September 2026. Later says links, commissions and the payout schedule stay the same.
  • Brands set the commission. Each brand card shows a rate, and “up to” means the rate changes by product. Some items earn nothing.
  • Pay arrives 30 days after a cycle ends. Sales from 1 to 15 January are paid on 15 February. The minimum is $10 by ACH or PayPal and $35 by wire.
  • Disclosure is an account rule. Mavely lists a missing disclosure before the link as a reason for removal, and a removed account is not paid its pending commissions.
  • Volume is the hard part. A commission is a few dollars, so you need many posts, and each one has to be yours.

What is the Mavely app?

The Mavely app is the mobile app of an affiliate platform for creators. You make a link to a product and share it. When someone buys through the link, the brand pays a commission and Mavely passes your part to you.

The app is now listed as “Later Creator: Earn via Social” in the App Store and on Google Play. Later says it acquired Mavely in January 2025, and on 1 September 2026 it announced that “Mavely is now Later” (later.com, October 2026). The same post says: “Your links, commissions, and payout schedule are staying exactly as they are.” Old mave.ly links keep working.

The app is free. The App Store listing says there is “no approval process” and there are “no follower minimums” (apps.apple.com, October 2026). Mavely’s creator blog counts “over 1,400 top brands” (joinmavely.com, October 2026).

How does Mavely work for a creator?

Mavely works in five steps, and only the first one happens once.

  1. Create the account. Add your social handles, your legal name and a payment method. Mavely checks every new creator.
  2. Find the brand. Open its brand card. The card lists the commission rules, the current promotions and the brand’s terms.
  3. Make the link. Paste a product page address, or use the browser extension for Chrome and Safari.
  4. Share it with a disclosure. Mavely’s guide names Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, text messages and email newsletters. Pinterest has its own rules for affiliate links, covered in Pinterest affiliate marketing.
  5. Read the analytics. The app shows clicks, sales and commission for each link.

Mavely’s help center lists four ways to earn (latermedia.io, October 2026):

Way to earnHow it worksWhen it is paid
Affiliate linksA percentage of a sale made through your link1st and 15th of the month
Monthly bonusesA bonus for reaching a sales total in a calendar month30 days after the month ends
Referrals10% of a referred creator’s commissions for their first six monthsEvery quarter
Paid campaignsA brand sponsorship. Mavely’s account team contacts the creatorSet by the campaign

The referral rate comes from Mavely’s creator guide (joinmavely.com, October 2026).

How are Mavely commissions set?

The brand sets the commission, and Mavely shows it on the brand card. Mavely’s help page on commission rules says brands “control and determine the commission rates that creators have access to” (latermedia.io, October 2026).

Two details on that page change what a link earns:

  • “Up to” is a ceiling. Mavely’s example is a brand that pays “up to 11%” and less on some products. The rate can change by item, by category, by the number of items in the order, or when the buyer uses a coupon code.
  • Some items are non-commissionable. The brand pays nothing on them. Mavely’s own example is an order that contains only groceries.

Tracking depends on a cookie. If a shopper refuses cookies, Mavely says the sale does not track. Mavely does not publish one cookie window for all brands, so read the terms on the brand card.

When and how does Mavely pay?

Mavely pays on the 1st and 15th of each calendar month. Each payment covers one 15-day commission cycle, and it arrives 30 days after the cycle ends. Mavely’s example: the cycle of 1 to 15 January is paid on 15 February (latermedia.io, October 2026).

How Mavely pays creators: pay days on the 1st and 15th, 30 days after a cycle ends, within 45 days of the first sale for new creators, with a $10 minimum by ACH or PayPal and $35 by wire.
RuleWhat Mavely says
Pay days1st and 15th. Weekends and holidays can move the date
Delay30 days after the last day of the cycle
New creatorsPaid within 45 days of the first sale
MethodsACH, PayPal, wire transfer, international ACH
Minimum by ACH or PayPal$10
Minimum by wire$35
FeesDomestic ACH and domestic PayPal are free. A wire or an international payment may have a fee

The minimums come from Mavely’s page on thresholds (latermedia.io, October 2026). A balance under the minimum moves to the next pay period.

The number in your analytics can change. A brand can edit or audit a transaction “up to 120+ days” after it happens, according to Mavely’s page on adjustments. If a shopper returns an order after Mavely paid you for it, Mavely deducts the commission from a later payout.

Is Mavely legit?

Mavely is a real affiliate platform with a named owner and a published payment process. Later, a social media and influencer marketing company, owns it. Later says the Mavely community “has earned more than $300 million in cumulative payouts”. That figure is Later’s own and we could not check it against a second source.

A better question is what can stop a payment. Mavely’s compliance pages are direct about it (latermedia.io, October 2026). A removed creator “will not be paid any pending commission earnings”, and the decision is final with no appeal. Mavely’s reasons include:

  • Your name, email and payment profile do not match.
  • You do not own the images on your profile or the pictures in your posts.
  • You post without the disclosure Mavely and the FTC ask for.
  • You have more than one account, or a link to a removed account.

Keep your account details exact and answer compliance emails.

What do Mavely’s rules say about disclosure?

Mavely asks for a disclosure before the link, on every post, on every platform. Its compliance checklist lists this as a violation: “Not including ‘affiliate marketing’, #ad, #sponsored before the Mavely links or FTC disclosure stating commissions are made” (latermedia.io, October 2026).

Mavely’s page on FTC compliance adds three points. The disclosure has to be visible without a tap on “more”. On Instagram Stories it goes on the image itself. A platform label such as “Paid Partnership” may not be enough alone.

The FTC’s own answers match. Its staff guidance says “Paid link” next to an affiliate link should be an adequate disclosure, and that people may not understand “affiliate link” alone (ftc.gov, October 2026). The same page says: “You can’t talk about your experience with a product if you haven’t tried it.”

That sentence matters for any creator who uses AI images. A made picture of a product you never held, posted as your own purchase, makes the same false claim. We found no Mavely help page that names AI images. Its image-ownership rule and the FTC’s tried-it rule both apply. Our guide to labeling AI-generated images covers the platform labels. This is general information, not legal advice.

Content sells through a link when the viewer trusts the recommendation and can see the product in use. Mavely’s creator guide names four formats: honest product reviews, before-and-after comparisons, how-to posts that feature a product, and roundups on one theme.

Two habits follow from the commission rules above:

For the rest of the stack, CreatorFlow’s creator tools directory lists 190+ tools by job, from link-in-bio and email to scheduling and affiliate platforms. CreatorFlow is built by the same team as DesignerBox (creatorflow.so/creator-tools, October 2026).

How much content does a Mavely creator need?

More than most creators plan for. Here is our own example, with round numbers. A 10% commission on a $30 order is $3. To earn $300 in a month at that rate, your links need 100 orders. That takes many posts, across several products, every week.

That is the content-volume problem. Each product needs more than one picture: a clean shot, a shot in use, a seasonal version, a group shot for a roundup. Ten linked products with four pictures each is 40 pictures, before video.

There are three honest ways to reduce the work:

  • Photograph in sessions. One surface and one light for every product you own. Content batching explains the method.
  • Ask the brand. Some brands supply image packs with usage terms. Mavely creator content describes what a good pack contains, from the brand’s side.
  • Make variations from your own photo. One real photo of a product you hold can become several settings. The product and your opinion stay real. AI tools for content creators sorts the tool types by job.

Product content every week in DesignerBox

DesignerBox is AI creative production for brands, creators and agencies. For a creator, the job is narrow: you take one real photo of a product you own, and you get the other settings for it without a new shoot each time. The subject of every picture is the product you link.

Anyone can make an AI picture. Making hundreds that still look like one account is the hard part. In DesignerBox you save the look once as a workflow: the surface, the light, the framing. A saved workflow runs the same way on the next product, so week six matches week one. You can start from a template for product backgrounds or for social posts. The cost is shown before each run.

The full workflow from the first product photo to the finished post, in one subscription. There is a free plan, and it runs on sample products. Uploading your own photos and the commercial license start on the Pro plan. AI video, virtual try-on, upscaling, the image editor and the video editor start on the Premium plan. Plans and credits are on the pricing page.

Two limits. DesignerBox does not post for you or make your links: you download the results. And if you post a few times a month, your phone is enough and you may not need it.

FAQ

Is the Mavely app free?

Yes. The app is free to download, and Mavely’s creator blog says there are no application fees and no follower minimums. A wire transfer or an international payment may carry a fee, and domestic ACH and domestic PayPal are free.

Is Mavely now Later?

Yes. Later says it acquired Mavely in January 2025, and on 1 September 2026 it announced that Mavely is now Later. The app is listed as Later Creator. Later says links, commission rates and the payout schedule stay the same, and old mave.ly links keep working.

How does Mavely pay you?

Mavely pays on the 1st and 15th of each month through the Tipalti payment processor. You choose ACH, PayPal, wire transfer or international ACH. Each payment arrives 30 days after its 15-day cycle ends, and new creators are paid within 45 days of the first sale. The minimum is $10 by ACH or PayPal and $35 by wire.

Is Mavely legit?

Mavely is a real affiliate platform owned by Later, with a published payment schedule and public rules. Mavely says a removed account is not paid its pending commissions and cannot appeal. Keep your account details exact, own the images you post, and disclose every link.

Can I use AI images in Mavely posts?

We found no Mavely help page that names AI images. Mavely does list “You do not own the images on your profile and pictures used for posts” as a reason for removal, and the FTC says you cannot describe an experience with a product you have not tried. A variation of your own photo of a product you own is ordinary production work.
